Le Palane

Le Palane is a traditionally built, wooden chalet sitting just above the village of Les Carroz d'Araches, set back from the main route to Flaine and a couple of hundred metres from the Ski Bus stop.

The accommodation consists of two doubles, a twin and a triple, thus comfortably sleeping nine but with plenty of room for more on fold-out beds. Double rooms feature a balcony with views of the peaks across the Arve valley, and over Les Carroz and Cluses to the north. All rooms benefit from complimentary WiFi, while each double also has a DVD player. We have three bathrooms, one with a bath and two with a shower.

The open-plan dining & living area has a log fire, 37'' HDTV with UK & local channels, a DVD player and an mp3 hook-up.

In the boot room you'll find boot warmers and plenty of space for your kit to dry out while you're sat by the fire, with tea and cake. There is also a Wii games console and a PS3 for kids of all ages to use -without taking over the living area.

Les Carroz D'Araches was one of the first ski villages in France, yet it has maintained its alpine character. It is less than an hour from Geneva airport and, along with Flaine, Morillon, Samoens, and Sixt forms the Grand Massif ski area, with 265km of piste and one of the best snow records in France.

There are a variety of excellent restaurants in the town, as well as bars, a well stocked supermarket , snow-sports specialists , a selection of shops and a nightclub. The overall feel is relaxed and this extends to the Apres-ski.

The chalet is situated just above Les Carroz, less than a 15 minute walk away, on the free ski bus route. Intermediate and advanced skiers can ski right to the chalet door.

Our philosophy at Chalet Le Palane is that you should never leave the table hungry. We have no Michelin star pretensions; our food is hearty & packed with flavour rather than fussy & foamy.

Afternoon tea consists of home-made cake with tea or coffee.

Dinner is a freshly prepared, three-course meal with wine. We serve this 6 nights out of 7 and are happy to book you into one of the local restaurants on our night off.

All our eggs are free range and organic, and we aim to use ethically farmed meat and dairy products wherever possible.

Most dietary requirements can be catered for, all we ask is that you let us know prior to booking.
